The fashionable Miss Pym is off to Brighton, accompanied by Benjamin, her new footman. On the stagecoach she is snubbed by Lady Beatrice Marsham, but Miss Pym quickly realises that Beatrice is not really snobbish at all, but very frightened; in fact, she is fleeing an arranged marriage.
